SoftWave Therapy is a treatment involving SoftWave Tissue Regeneration Technology that applies short, frequent, and high-intensity bursts of mechanical energy (in the form of a shock wave) into soft tissue that is injured, scarred, contains adhesions, is painful, or inflamed. Shockwave therapy has been around for quite a while. Shockwave therapy is the standard of care for soft tissue injuries in Europe and has been a non-surgical option in the U.S. for over 20 years. Increased study and documentation over time have led to increased adoption of shockwave therapy in multiple fields of use.

SoftWaveTRT is FDA 510(k) cleared for the activation of connective tissue, treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers, and treatment of acute second-degree burns, as well as pain reduction and Improved blood supply.

WHAT IS SOFTWAVE TRT'S INTENDED USE?

SoftWave TRT is an alternative to surgery to treat musculoskeletal and soft tissue conditions. Shockwave therapy can be used as a multidisciplinary device for various symptoms and treatments. The two main treatments are alleviating immediate pain by targeting nerve endings and stimulating the body's natural healing process. The main targets in the body include bones, tendons, and other soft tissues, which are encouraged to regenerate and repair via the shockwaves.

More specifically, shockwave therapy can be used for:

HOW LONG IS A SOFTWAVE THERAPY TREATMENT?

Each session of SoftWave therapy only takes 5-15 minutes and is typically recommended to be done once a week for 3-5 weeks.

Each condition treated with SoftWave TRT is unique and may require more or less treatment time. Most patients experience improvement after the very first session.

HOW LONG DOES SOFTWAVE THERAPY TREATMENT TAKE TO SHOW IMPROVEMENT?

Often immediately, the best outcomes occur roughly 12 weeks after the last treatment.

DOES INSURANCE COVER SOFTWAVE THERAPY?

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH SOFTWAVE THERAPY?

SoftWave therapy does not cause any bruising or swelling. Redness and soreness can occur for some but usually subside in a day or two.

CAN SOFTWAVE THERAPY BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?

Yes, it can; however, it is up to the provider. We found SoftWave therapy effective on its own, but it has also been shown to be even more effective when combined with other forms of treatment, including physical therapy, chiropractic, massage, soft tissue mobilization, etc.

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS RIGHT AFTER TREATMENT?

You should follow your provider's instructions and not take pain medicine or engage in activities that would aggravate the injured area.

WHAT DOES A SOFTWAVE THERAPY PROCEDURE LOOK LIKE?

Your provider will apply a gel to the surface area that is going to be treated.

The SoftWave TRT applicator is gently applied to the skin. You will hear a clicking sound as your practitioner moves around the treatment area.

During therapy, you communicate with the clinician to identify treatment areas and monitor progress.

WHAT CONDITIONS CAN BE TREATED WITH SOFTWAVE?

SoftWave therapy can successfully address acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries related to the knee, heel, foot, ankle, hamstring, back, pelvis, neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. In addition, research has shown promising results in the areas of sexual health, cosmetics, and wound healing.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR SOFTWAVE?

Most people are good candidates for shock wave treatment; however, patients who are pregnant, have a pacemaker or have current cancer are not suitable for treatment. Your doctor will provide you with information about conditions you may have that would affect your ability to undergo treatment.
